Washington Elementary Chess Champions (WECC) was formed to promote the
teaching of analytical thinking skills to elementary school age children
via chess. WECC first ran the Washington State Elementary Chess
Championship tournament in 2003, and again in 2006. It is a non-profit
corporation and has been given a preliminary ruling authorizing it to be
treated under tax rules from 501(c)(3), which allows tax-deductible
contributions to be made to WECC.
